The most Inspiring quotes of Swami Vivekananda

When I was in highschool, I used to wake up at 4:00 AM every morning. It is the most beautiful time to be awake. I used to study chess for 2 hours before going to school. You know, you can hear your own thoughts loudly and clearly at that time because there are no conscious thought waves from the world around you.

But recently, it was very difficult to find the motivation to wake up so early. Too much comfort, or laziness, or the lack of clear vision.. I do not know what. However, yesterday before sleeping, I read the book “inspiring thoughts” , which is collection of swami Vivekananda. And this morning I was up at 4:30 AM, full of life, intensity, excitement and with the intention of creating a great day. In this post I am putting down some of the best for you, and I hope they help you feel life, energy, strength and intensity at a new level.

“If what we are now has been the result of our past actions, it certainly follows that whatever we wish to be in the future can be produced by our present actions. So we have to know how to act.”

“You have to grow from inside out. None can teach you. None can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.”

“We are what our thoughts have made us. So take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live, they travel far.”

“Comfort is no test of truth, on the contrary truth is often far from being comfortable.”

“Work and worship are necessary to take away the veil to lift off the bondage and illusion.”

“Perfection does not come from belief or faith. Talk does not count for anything. Parrots can do that. Perfection comes through selfless work.”

“Knowledge can only be got in one way, the way of experience. There is no other way to know.”

“Neither seek nor avoid. Take what comes. It is liberty to be affected by nothing. Do not merely endure. Be unattached.”

“In a day when you do not come across any problems, you can be sure that you are traveling the wrong path.”

“When once you consider an action, do not let anything dissuade you. Consult your heart, not others and then follow its dictates.”

“All love is expansion. All selfishness is contraction. Love is therefore the only law of life. He who loves lives, he who is selfish is dying. Therefore love for love’s sake because it is law of life just as you breathe to live.”

“Everything can be sacrificed for truth, but truth cannot be sacrificed for anything.”

“What I want is the muscles of iron and nerves of steel inside which dwells a mind of the same material as that of which the thunderbolt is made.”

“Take up one idea. Make that idea your life. Think of it. Dream of it. Live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body be full of that idea and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success. That is the way great spiritual giants are produced.”

“The whole secret of existence is to have no fear. Never fear what will become of you. Depend on noone. Only the moment you reject all help are you free.”

“Do not hate anybody because that hatred which comes out from you must, in the long run come back to you. If you love, the love will come back to you completing the circle.”

“The happiest moments we ever know are when we entirely forget ourselves.”

As you can sense from these words, there is no place for fear, weakness or mediocrity in this life. One must come out of the comfort shell and work selflessly with the mind full of concentration.

I hope this adds value to your life. Go out there, be strong and make a great day full of Love and life! 🙂

  1. The theme of the power of our thoughts echoing across each line in these quotes.

    Powerful but yet subtle.
    Too easily overlooked.

Thanks for bringing this to light, Sarthak.
