10 Ways to stimulate your mind for higher creativity and imagination.

When you are trying to reach new levels of creativity and imagination in your work and life, you need to stimulate your brain to vibrate at a different level. With your ordinary awareness, you have a certain level of efficiency which is known to you. But when your brain is stimulated to vibrate at really higher levels, it can access the unknown sources and present you the ideas that are truly at a level of a Genius.

With that idea in mind I present you the 10 ways to stimulate your mind, which are taken from the famous self-help classic, ‘think and grow rich’ by Napoleon Hill.

1.) The desire for sex expression

We all know that the urge for a sexual expression is one of the strongest emotions we can have. It is an intense energy with irresistible force and infinite creativity. But the sad part is that we are never shown the importance of transforming this energy into creative work and hence it goes wasted only through physical channels.

If we recognize how powerful that energy is, we will surely make attempts to transform it into creativity. Read these words by Swami Vivekananda.

” The Yogis claim that of all the energies that are in the human body the highest is what they call “Ojas”. Now this Ojas is stored up in the brain, and the more Ojas is in a man’s head, the more powerful he
is, the more intellectual, the more spiritually strong. All the forces that are working in the body in their highest become Ojas. You must remember that it is only a question of transformation. The Yogis say that that part of the human energy which is expressed as sex energy, in sexual thought, whenchecked and controlled, easily becomes changed into Ojas.”

Swami vivekananda in Raja Yoga

Most of humanity know the sexual expression only through a physical way. But if you learn to transform it and direct it to your brain, you can only imagine the level of intelligence that will take place! Desire for sexual expression is the most natural and powerful ‘drug’ available for free to everyone. One only needs to learn to control it and direct it!

2.) Love

The feeling that we call ‘love’, is also a strongest positive emotion that we can have. The stronger the emotion, the higher stimulation for the brain. Almost everyone gets easily and effortlessly involved into listening or watching a love story, because the emotion is so powerful that the brain and body want to get engaged with it.

3.) Music

Music has been defined as a form of intelligence. It has this magical ability to heal and elevate moods. Sound is a sense that moves through time. When the sound is composed in a rhythmic manner, it carries us with its own flow of time. A slow rhythm can really calm you because there is a slower sense of ‘flow’ of time. On the other hand, fast beats of music can bring enthusiasm or even aggression.

No other form of art has this profound impact on us. Since music can change moods, it certainly can be used as a tool to stimulate your mind!

4.) Friendship

Friendships may involve lesser degree of emotions than love, but it is still a tool for generating great positive emotions.

5.) A ‘Master-Mind’ alliance of people having same goals and objectives.

How do you feel after having an intense discussion with someone about the topic that you both/all love? There is a feeling of enthusiasm which can almost explode. Even after the conversation is over, you cannot stop thinking about it, because your brain is already vibrating at a higher rate than normal.

6.) A burning desire for fame, power, money…

When you are obsessed with material life, a desire for success-fame- power- money, can stimulate your brain for more creative ways of achievement. However, I feel that these are just a ‘by default’ desires of a modern life. It is important to contemplate fully on these things before beginning to ‘obsess’ about it.

7.) Pain and Mutual suffering

Pain is also an intense emotion, and has equal possibilities of transformation to a creative work. A lot of great works of art are result of the pain that the artist had gone through.

However, since it is a negative emotion it is not so easy to transform into creativity because all your attention maybe focused on getting out of that pain. But for those who are in pain, this might be an opportunity for you, an angel in disguise, to transform your suffering into a creative genius.

8.) Autosuggestion

When you tell something to yourself with strong emotions repeatedly, within few days it will become your strong belief. It is magic that your unconscious mind accepts suggestions and believes them to be true!

So if you are trying to reach a new level, first believe yourself already in that next level. First make it a reality inside your mind, and then it will inevitably materialize for you. The external world is only a reflection of your world within!

Autosuggestion can be in form of affirmations or visualizations. Using both together is the best way of course! Here is my article about Using Affirmations to influence your unconscious mind.

9.) Fear

Remember ‘the dark knight rises’ movie? When bruce has to make the jump without the ropes, he had the fear, and the fear allowed him to jump further than he could otherwise. Fear is the survival impulse which brings your body and mind to a different level of awareness.

However, know that the fear is useful impulse only in case of survival of the body. The psychological fears are more negative in nature even though sometimes they make you work faster and better.

For example, when a child does his homework due to fear of failure, it is a negative sign. He may finish his homework today but this fear will leave deep impression for the rest of his life.

10.) Narcotics and alcohol

Totally not recommended, 😛

Conclusion

All these are various ways to stimulate your mind to reach new creative abilities. Key thing to notice is that all are transformation of various intense emotions that we can have. Some are positive (Sex, Love, friendship, success) and some are negative (fear, pain), but they all can be directed to the brain.

Hope this adds value to your life! Experiment with transformations of emotional energies into creative work, it will be fun!

  1. Interesting article. Thank you for that. This may sound strange but I sometimes get inspired by meditation. It ‘disturbs’ the calm of meditation so it is a side effect at best. I do not meditate when in need for inspiration. Maybe bringing balance to the mind creates space for ideas to bubble up? Your guess is as good as mine.

    1. Thank you😊 oh yess, I think meditation is also a great source of inspiration. While meditating, we can listen to our own deep ideas which otherwise slip through our attention. And also as you mentioned, by creating a space we allow the ideas to come on surface.. great insight! Thank you alot for adding this! 😊❤

  2. Thanks for your article. Here are some relevant quotations from the book “A Course in Miracles”:

1.) The desire for sex expression

Child of God, you were created to create the good, the beautiful, and the holy. Do not lose sight of this. Invite me to enter anywhere temptation arises. I will change the situation from one of inappropriate sexual attraction to one of impersonal miracle working. This is the real meaning of changing the channel for libidinal expression.[127] (A Course in Miracles: Complete and Annotated Edition, p. 39)

Footnote 127. This refers to sublimation, the idea that we can channel (in this case) sexual energy into more socially useful expressions, such as art. The original form of this sentence adds that sublimation “was Freud’s greatest contribution, except that he did not understand what ‘channel’ really means.” For Jesus, “channel” refers to being a conduit of miracles from the Holy Spirit to others. Sublimation, therefore, should mean channeling sexual energy into miracle working.

    ~

Sublimation should be associated with the sublime.[71] (A Course in Miracles: Complete and Annotated Edition, p. 72)

Footnote 71. “Sublimation”: acting out socially unacceptable impulses by rechanneling their energy into a more socially acceptable form. For instance, rage can be channeled into artistic expression. The point here is that we should rechannel unacceptable impulses in a sublime direction, rather than in a merely socially acceptable direction.

    2.) Love
    4.) Friendship
5.) A ‘Master-Mind’ alliance of people having same goals and objectives.

This is the function of your holy relationship. For what one thinks, the other will experience with him. What can this mean except your minds are one? Look not with fear upon this happy fact, and think not that it lays a heavy burden on you. For when you have accepted it with gladness, you will realize that your relationship is a reflection of the union of the Creator and His Son. From loving minds there is no separation. And every thought in one brings gladness to the other because they are the same. Joy is unlimited, because each shining thought of love extends its being and creates more of itself. There is no difference anywhere within it, for every thought is like itself. (A Course in Miracles: Complete and Annotated Edition, p. 706)
